I found some pipes that are 4 inches in diameter and 22 inches long stainless steel. It has the 2 1/4 inlet so it could be welded on. Would it make it a lot louder and better sounding??? I already have the 80 series Flowmaster, but the tips are the same size as the pipes, stock.

Tips are for LOOKS, unless they have some kind of baffles in them. Not exactly true.
Of course it makes a difference if the exhaust gases have more room to expand in the tips. Not all the noise is staying in the muffler, you know.
In my old 95 Z I first had Flow muffler with OEM tips (the square ones) and when I changed them to SS (round) tips, the sound became much deeper. Not so much resonance anymore and a lot nicer sound.

I put the exhaust pipes from a WS6 onto my Flowmaster (about 2.5 or 2.75"). It sounds different than the stock pipes. The sound is more mellow, a little quieter, and it doesn't sound ricey at the high end.Wife and a dog, they both think they\'re Kujo.

1999 3.8 A4 Y87
Navy Blue Metallic
BFG G-Force KDWS 275/40/17s,
WS6 Wheels (17x9)
Phoenix Transmissions 2400 Stall Converter
FRA, Holley Powershot filter, Whisper Lid, Ported Throttlebody
2000 manifolds, Flowmaster, WS6 Tail Pipes,
MSD 8.5mm Wires, MSD Coils, Autolite plugs
Performance Cryogenics treated rotors
1LE Sway Bars and panhard rod, 1LE front springs w/SLP Bilsteins, stock rear springs w/ 3rd Gen Bilsteins, BMR STB, KBDD SFCs, 1LE rear lower control arms, 1LE front lower control arms
1968 Chevelle Malibu 327 TH350

You guys aren't answering my question. I was just asking about the pipes I had mentioned. You guys are talking about smaller pipes, looks, etc.2003 Nissan 350Z Touring Coupe, Daytona Blue, Frost leather interior, navigation, 18 inch wheels, M6, fully loaded, intake, crank pulley.

Previous cars:
1991 Mustang (347)
2002 RS Camaro
1985 IROC-Z (305)
1994 Camaro convertible V6

From what I've heard (and please don't flame me if I'm wrong), larger tips will make the sound louder and usually deeper. I'm told this is because the larger size of the tips creates an echo effect with the exhaust sound and thus makes it louder. My Old Car - 2000 Silver V6 Bird

The replacement-
94 Firebird Formula - 383, TH400, and a big blower
http://community.webshots.com/user/fastblackcar94

I ordered a set of those hooker quad exhaust tips and welded them onto my 2.25 inch pipes coming from my flowmaster 80. My exhaust is louder and has a nice throaty sound at idle that it didn't have before the tips. ;)94 camaro M5
Dual Flow Master exhaust
Cutout
Hooker Quad Tips
K&N Cold Air
Pro 5.0 shifter
Autometer Tachometer

The size of those pipes I want is 4 inches diameter and 22 inches length. Would that fit on my 94 camaro? I think the tips do matter a bit. A friend of mine had the same setup on her car as I have on mine, but different tips. Her's sounded a lot worse.
