Factory vs. Whisper

So I'm looking under my hood the other day, and I notice my airbox cover isn't really shaped that differently from the Whisper Lid. So what's the difference? Is it something on the inside?

whisper lid is taller, gets rid of air silencer, and doesn't have those lines or grills to direct air.

The whisper lid also has a round outlet to the throttle body instead of the stocker's oval shaped one. This larger diameter provides much better airflow.
