  • Exhaust + header sound question

On my car right now I have the SLP Loudmouth from my cat back. This is the only exhaust mod I have unless you count CAI and a de-finned air box. BUT anyway I am thinking about getting a set of Pacesetter Headers and was just wondering how it would make my car sound. Will it make it sound more like a V6 or make it deeper? I will probably go ahead and do the cat while I am at it because that is all that's left.

    Anyway I appreciate the feedback.

No problem. I do like it. The first day I had it on just leaving the shop I could tell that my torque had increased. It just seems to pull harder. I just had it installed at a local muffler shop. I would have done it my self but you are probably guna need a custom piece of pipe from the cat to the first pipe of the LM. So that kept me from doing it myself. The only "problems" i have had aren't really problems but my pickiness. It has started becoming a little uneven ( the tips), and I had a tip fall off on the freeway. I clamped them on. The last thing is that it began to settle and vibrate on a cross brace under the car. I just took that off though. Lots of guys have done that.
The sound is not bad. Down low it is awesome. Up about 3500 and beyond it can sound like a little plane taking off. But that is easy to cope with.
I think you will like it. (Sorry if I gave too much info.) Good Luck.

If you're getting headers for the sound - I have to ask...why? ;)

The headers will take away the tiny rasp you are probably getting and free up a couple ponies on your ride.

Hmm, not sure it will make much of a difference since you already have the tubular manifold. How much did they charge you to put the LM on? They did weld right? Also, have you looked into CIA headers?

I am not getting the headers for sound, just performance. But I don't want them to take away from the sound I have now.
They only charged me $90 including the making of the adapter pipe. No they didn't weld it on. They used the supplied clamps. The adapter pipe is welded though. And will the CIA headers make a difference from Pacesetter. I was looking at Pacesetter for the price and lack of trouble.

Yeah. Sorry but that labor price was for the Loudmouth cat back. Not headers. I don't have headers YET.

Putting headers and high flow cat will definately make your car sound deeper and rumble more.
