  • Whiper Air Lid?

I have my Stock airlid in my car but i removed all the baffels, and removed the silencer and replaced it with a peice of drier vent hose. Would I get any more benefit from a whisper lid over what i have now?

**** dude, you would get so much more airflow if you went with another lid. the stock lid is so restrictive, at some points, the lid gets to a thickness of about an inch.
My suggestion is go with the slp intake kit, with the elbow. It is waay less more restrictive, and not that much more in price, plus you get a whole new intake vs just a whisper lid

Yes...the stock lid is oval and the whisper lid is round...this results in less restriction and more air flow. The SLP intake won't work...he has a 02. Duh.

Thanks. The reason I am really thinking about it is that Lmperformance has the whisper lid on special for 109. I don't need the kit because I already have the CAI and a K&N.
But speedy-v6 what intake are you refering to? Just curious.

I couldn't tell a difference between the modified factory lid and the whiper lid. The only reason I got one was because of the ZZP TB spacer. It moved my tb forward and was kinda pinching off the airflow through the rubber intake bellow.

Did that TB spacer help you with performance or gas mileage. Just wondering.

I'm talking about the exit of the lids...the stock is oval while all aftermarket lids are circular. It sounds like My3Birds is talking about a SLP intake for the pre-98 3.8L, cause as far as I know those are the only ones with elbows. I personally have an MTI lid made for the LS1 but adapted it to my 3.8 and love it...the sounds of the exhaust improved and I noticed a slight difference in throttle response and high RPM power.

I woud say go with the lid. Its made for the car and it will give you the best air flow possable. I tried the same thing you do with the stok lid and the whisper lid performed so much better. GEt the lid.
