It can handle it. Don't let some of these guys blow smoke up your a$$ by saying it's too big. It will feel like you're losing a little low-end torque because of the bigger pipe, but you'll notice an improvement in overall acceleration. If you're planning on pretty extensive modifications later on down the road, get the 3" and do it right the first time.
As far as sound goes, it will be louder, but should sound pretty nice with the SLP CAI you have.2000 3.8L Firebird, Silver Metallic

\"Yes, London. You know, fish, chips, cup o\' tea, bad food, worse weather, Mary f***in\' Poppins, London!!\"

any car can "handle it". It;s just a mater of how you want it to perform. If you don't want your exhaust to be perfect ans sqeeze every bit outa it then go for it. If you would like alternitives then you can head down that road as well1996 Silver camaro Z28. I say go with 3" if you plan on actually working on your car more 3" is louder than a 2 1/2" and does net you more benefits over the 2 1/2" by adjusting your power more towards the top end for better acceleration where our cars need it the most!Mustangs..
