  • Throttle Body woes

Allright, last weekend I ported/ poished/ cut out the center post in my throttlebody. I got very interesting results, at first my car would not idle below 2500 rpm but when i unplugged the battery and reconnected it the next day idle was back to normal (about 900). Well the car pulls harder through 1st and 2nd but has much better midrange power. Now this was all working fine until I filled up my tank drove to school for a week and looked at my gas guage, according to my odometer it said i only got 265 miles out of a full tank, keep in mind this was all freeway driving at about 70 mph. Now from what I understand if I swap to a new MAF sensor from 99+ car I will regain driveability/ gas mileage is this correct? Also I already have the sensor just need to take my TB down to the machine shop. I have read that this will fix the problems.

So should I swap MAF's or just try to pick up a used 95 - 98 throttlebody? performance is important to me but gas mileage is more, as i usually average 27, with the pp TB i got about 20.

Try another tank of gas. Mileage will be down after disconnecting the battery as the computer relearns its long term trims.

No i only cut the bottom part of the post so that the MAF is still in place just without that little metal plate behind it (which the instructions say you don't need). Also the car seems to be running very rich, and if i turn the A/c on at idle it sometimes stalls, from what i understand though if i put a 99+ MAF in it should run better, but is it worth it?

No, not the round plate, the little brass plate right behind the MAF, it has 2 screws and supports the post. BTW your car is F***ing sick!
