    Hopefully this new setup was worth 1 or 2 hp the first setup that i had still utilized the stock air box and the stock box that was right in front of the intake. This one sounds so much better. I am half tempted to go back and get my car redynoed to see if their was a HP increase

    Wow that looks great. Thats what i want to do with mine. I am intersed in hearing how u did it. Have you noticed any hp gains or is your exhaust sounding better? How far does the filter go down into the fender, and what kind of filter snorkle do you have on there. And what about the stock plasic piece that is bent to go between the fuse box and the other thing. Did you consider trying to do any thing about that. Or does that not matter that much.       Looks good! Let me know what parts you needed to make all of that, and where to get them. I would like to make that set-up on mine.

        I got them all from home depot. All 3" pvc piping. the filter is one that I got from Autozone it has a "neck" on it that fits perfictly in the 3" PVC. the hardest part was making the elbow on the TB. it took about two hours. It was made from 1 piece of 45 degree street turn PVC pipe. The exaust is much deeper. I used the stock piece that goes betwwen the radiator and the "thingy" I thought about using a 3" rubber connecter betewwen their but I thought that it might get to hot and melt through. but we will see I might switch it out soon. But like I said I will be doing a little write up on what I did and what to get on my website tomorrow morning so you can check back then to read about it.

          One question - where did you relocate the one sensor that is on the stock elbow? just curious

            The IAT sensor? That is the only one that I have and if you look in the "top view" picture you can see it going in to the PVC pipe right before the elbow into the throttle body [img]smile.gif[/img]

              between the ABS and Radiator that piece is like crinked pretty close together, i think its a prety big bottleneck on your custom CAI. Would it be possible to fit a 3" PVC pipe in that spot?

                  i know. lol. i was just out there looking and im wonderng wtf howd they get it to fit. Im thinking of heading over to Home Depot and picking up some PVC, why did you have to do a custom job on the TB elbow, couldnt you use a PVC elbow or something or did it not fit?

                    not to burst your bubble or efforts but that does not look like it flows as good as a real cold air intake does.

                    You must realize that the entire purpose of a cold air intake is not simply the cold air aspect but also the amount of cfm's, reducing bends and tight spots.

                    It does look like a small squeezed together area, probably better than stock but not as great of a gain you could have with K&N fipk or slp or even using simple aircraft/ radiator hose tubing.

                    What ever fits your budget and works for you i guess is what matters.

                      yah thats why Im wondering if it would be possible to eliminate that crinked section between ABS module and Radiator. Once thats done it should be flow a fairly good amount of air.

                        QUESTION: How did you remove the rubber hose piece that wraps around the throttle body itself, there seems to be a huge clamp around the whole thing but i dont see anyway to loosen it? I have a 97 Firebird

                          Ya I see your point but what I was trying to do was just get a basic setup I have plenty of PVC to mess around with I will see if I can get a 3" pvc to fit in their. I will try that tomorrow.

                          As far as the rubber piece that in on the TB it just comes right off.

                            heh. i tried it myself today. about 5 trips later to homedepot i didnt get it right, but i did learn a bunch of stuff.

                            a 3-inch rubber coupling is the perfect size to go over the throttlebody, get the smallest 3-3 one you can get. at first i got one that was huge and almost hit the radiator installed. Then I got the smaller one like you have. A little wd-40 will help it go on easier.

                            If you try to use a 90degree PVC elbow from the coupling on the TB youll be faced towards the ABS module.

                            Theres no way in hell 3 inch PVC is going to fit in between in the radiator and the ABS module, At least not the stuff I was using.

                            the MAF screen is practically impossbile to remove with breaking it. I dont see how you could actually.

                            So now i sit here trying to think up a new way to get from the TB to the other side of the ABS/Radiator without creating a custom pipe

                              Have you tried heating a piece of 3" PVC with a small torch and then pushing it in with a board or something on each side until you have just enough clearance to pass by the ABS/radiator? I seen someone do this before and the squeeze in is not as bad as you might think.
