  • Pics of my new custom CAI

So after looking at CAI's and deciding everyone was asking WAY too much money i finally just made my own from 3" tubing. Eventually i'll pull it out and grind the welds down and paint it, but for now it works...

You can't see the IAT in those pics because that was right after i got it mounted, so you can't see it (since it wasn't mounted yet in those pics).

I just spliced and extension in the harness, drilled a hole about 2" above the base of the filter and mounted it there.

Eventually i'll get around to sealing the filter of from the engine compartment completely... guess it's tiem to order some heat shielding...

Yes if you have the means make your own. The stor bought ones are not any better performance wise just a huge hit in the wallet........ come on... over 100 for a piece of plastic pipe and a filter.

I will have pics of my custom 3.5" cold air setup soon for anyone who is interested. My a/c system is completely removed including the condensor in front of the radiator so I can move the radiator shroud forward some to make room for a bigger pipe than most, which is nice. I fit a 4" pipe between the ABS module and the radiator when I tried but I decided to match the size of the pipe to the throttle body size as that's what I've heard was the best thing to do, and the throttle body is 65mm or about 3.5 inches. The parts I used cost me $40 TOTAL for a 4" 90 degree rubber elbow, the 3.5" aluminized steel piping, and the conical air filter.
