Guys that have had several different mufflers, get in here!

Please do me a favor and rank all the mufflers you've had based on two criteria.

First, rank them from quietest to loudest during cruising.

eg. From my experience, it would be like this
1. Stock muffler
2. Flowmaster 80 series

Next, rank them in terms of your preference for the tone.

eg.
1. Flowmaster
2. Stock muffler

Now for all of you fellow board members, don't count the stock muffler. Please just reply if you have had several different aftermarket mufflers. Thanks!

All of these were with stock tubular manifolds; the Flowmaster and Hooker were used with a 3" in, 3" out carsound cat and 3" piping all the way back from there.

I wouldn't recommend Flowmaster to anyone.....the interior resonance is horrible.

So as you can see other than stock, the quieter the better! You WILL get tired of a very loud system within months of getting it I GUARANTEE, especially if it's your daily driver. Some people here swear by their loud systems, but I think they're just in denial :-P

Go for the quietest aftermarket cat-back you can afford, the performance differences between all of the popular choices are minimal.

actually i was backwards, the setup on my car now is so dang loud and at first i hated it, especially on the highway, but the more i have it, the more i like it...BTW its my longtubes, no cat, and the Rumbler

That was actually why I put this up here. I have had a Flowmaster for over 4 years, and wanted to see what the options were for a quiet system that sounds good.

do you have a high flow cat? If not, that might give you the extra volume you need... and a 3" i-pipe will resonate nicely. That's what I have w/ my flowmaster and I LOVE it
