K&N Air Filters

Ok i just got a K&N filter for my birthday. It's just one of those that you drop into the stock air box. Would it be worth it to get a cone filter instead?

I heard that the stock air box will restrict the air flow a lot and i won't get much of a gain out of the K&N. Also, I have opened up the airbox and fashioned a ram air system in front of the left wheel if that makes any difference.

Oh yeah, I have a 93 3.4 so tell me what you think i should do guys.

I have a 95 3.4 and i did some testing one night at the track. I ran a factory air box with KN filter, KN FIPK cold air, and no filter at all. I do not have the time slips near me right now, but the fastest times were with the KN FIPK cold air intake. The slowest was with no filter at all. The free ram air mod had no effect except get the filter wet and sandy.

I have a K&N in my 94 3.4 and did not notice any before and after differences. The filter is superior in that it will last you a lifetime, provided you clean and lube it as required. i have heard good things about the FIPK, but i have no money so i am sorta stuck in that department. when i dropped in my K&N I noticed improved throttle response....you could really hear the air suck in when i hit the gas.....even more so with my Free Ram Air mod......i might go K&N FIPK in the near future when a cheap one comes along
