Throttle body/maf screen/air silencer problem

So I pulled off my air silencer tonight and the inside of the air silencer and the maf screen was cover in a thick black sicky substance, basically it had the consistency of hot tar, I haven't taken off the throttle body itself to see how far this goes back. I know this can't be good, does anyone know what this substance is?

I have no clue what it may be. I think it may be sealant for the rubber. If it is on the maf screen, take it to the dealership, if still under warrant and say you have been having problems with you car not making a lot of power.

holy shiznit, do you have anything done to the car intake wise?

maybe you melted some of the plastic intake and thats what it is. i dont see any other way blacktar could get inside :eek:

I would say pull the screen and try some intake / tb cleaner on it. If it works use that stuff all over inside your intake and put the screen back in...
