  • TSP rumbler vs custom catback

i have a '98 V6 and i'm having my exhaust done this summer. i was thinking about having a custom catback with two mufflers and 2.5" pipe, but it looks like the only way to pull that off is to mount them after the rear axle, hanging off the *** end of the car in open view. i see that the Rumbler is only $200 (without tips) from the TSP site. would there be a big performance difference between these two setups?

also, does anyone have pics of the Magnaflow oval tips that are optional with the Rumbler?

the general opinion about the Rumbler seems to be good, but are there any complaints against it, other than being too loud for some?

does the TSP hook right up, or do i need a bunch of extra stuff, like a special installation kit?

Tsp is a good cat-back and will most likely perform better than the custom setup you are thinkin about. As you have noticed theres not a whole lot of room to run 2 pipes and muffs. if your doing a cat back you minds well throw a 3in high flow cat($50) and youll need a s-pipe, you can make your own or buy the slp lt1(pretty sure its the lt1)loudmouth install kit.

buy a TSP rumbler. cheaper, loud, better quality.

i'm planning on going with that. probably should have it all said and done by the beginning of june.

does anybody have a pic or know the parts number for the Magnaflow oval tips that are optional? i'd like to know the length of them in case i want to buy a seperate pair. that way i won't buy some that are too long.

do you have a firebird or a camaro? if you have a firebird i would suggest dual/dual tips. i think about cutting my flowmaster tips off all the time, and putting dual/dual SLP tips. looks better on a firebird in my opinion cause of the gaps in the rear bumper. if you got a camaro i would say just go regular single dual tips.

it's a silver '98 camaro. i never liked quad tips, so i'm just planning on two singles.

here are a couple i like:

of course i couldn't find any of those three with a 3" inlet.

Is that how you fit it to the V6? Cuz i noticed on their site that the rumbler is typically for the LS1. It does say its for V6 cars "with adapters" whatever that means. I was planning on getting the rumbler myself, and TSP hadn't answered any of my emails regard that...

the adapter is the slp install kit. its basically an s pipe to connect the cat to the i-pipe. it says lt1 because the 93-95 lt1s are single cat exhausts like the v6.
