  • intake on 3.8L Camaro

I have a 2000 v6 3.8L and just had a Magnaflow cat-back exhaust system added. It sounds great, I'm happy with it, but I want to know if adding K&N cold air intake would be worth the money.
Is there a difference between just "air intake" and "'cold' air intake"...? Are they the same thing?
What would the benefits of adding it be? (hoping for better gas mileage... i get 17 mpg now)
Would ebay be the best place to look for the intake?
    Thanks.

If you look in the search section, you will find a lot of information and options already discussed. you will find the info you need a lot faster that way.

you should see better gas mileage and more hp but for the price of some of these kits compared to just making your own, i sometimes wonder if they are worth it. there isnt any difference between cold and non cold air intake. like i said, do a search and you'll find a lot of options. I would also look on ebay cause it will hopefulyl give you a good idea of whats out there.

if you have a good enough flow of cash buy one it will help the restrictive one you now have, IF YOU are not too full on cash then make on not hard go to intakehoses.com your TB is slightly smaller then 4" and just do a 4" to 3" 90* elbow then a 3inch pipe and put a filter you can buy at autozone, pep boys etc.... your a lil luckyer cause your TB isn't curved down like mines so it will be easyer hope that helps and yes you can tell the diff. also i dont know the main diff btwn the actual K&N and the knock offs at the store that look the same maybe they flow a whole lot better maybe not

You can cut holes in the bottom of your box, shave the fins out of the lid and replace the silencer. It would be the cheapest way to do it if you aren't looking to spend much money. The other option is to buy a whisper lid and a cold air kit like your link. Replacing the stock paper filter would also be a good idea.

Cutting holes in the bottom of the stock air box is called the free ram air mod. It allows air from your air dam to come up into the bottom of your filter.

You don't need anything else with the whisper lid if you don't want to buy anything else. You could go whisper lid & free ram air mod, or whisper lid & cold air kit, or just whisper lid.
