  • Rubber Flexible Hose for Whisper Lid

Where can I get a rubber flexible hose that can connect from the neck of the lid to the MAFH?

I bought just a whisper lid from a guy on the forums. I went to the dealership and bought a rubber grommet and I already have clamps. I have a 1998 Camaro so I need a seperate rubber flexible hose. I saw on Thunder Racing they include a rubber flexible hose, a rubber grommet, and clamps with the whisper lid. Would I be able to buy one from maybe Lowe's or The Home Depot; or does anyone know if I can order one off of a site online? It would be even better if someone might already have one and is willing to sell it to me. Thanks in advance for anyone that helps, I know I've been a pain on here lately.

I dont have a 98 myself, but from looking at the pictures of 98 whisper lids, it seems all you need is a piece of dryer ducting. Just go to Ace Hardware or one of those stores and ask for dryer ducting, that stuff comes in 3 or 4 inch diameters.

Yes, dryer ducting would be the alternative to the hose that comes with the kit, however the air going through it gets alot of turbulance because it's not a smooth surface. Im not really sure what else you could use though, but I suggest looking around lowes or H.D. and seeing if they have something thats a little smoother than dryer ducting.

I did the free ram air mod/smooth lid and removed air silencer. I kept the stock rubber hosed on the TB and the lid itself, and put black pvc pipe in place of the silencer. Im not sure with the whisper lid that you could implement that idea, but its a suggestion. Good luck

Alright, thanks for the ideas guys. Is it alright if the dryer ducting is aluminum? Would that be okay to have in the engine?

the aluminum stuff often has small aluminum shards left in it, I would not go that route.

The aluminum dryer vent hose works fine; I had that on my car for almost a year without any trouble. No, it does shred.

Yeah...I decided to call Thunder Racing about buying just the flexible hose and clamps from their Whisper Lid package. It looks like I'm just going to pay $22.50 for the two including shipping. Thanks for the help everyone.

The aluminum should work fine, its the white one that you really want to watch out for. That is made of vinyl and isn't designed to be in high temperature areas, meaning it will melt if you use it.

You could look for a silcone coupler in whatever size you need. It would probably be cheaper than from thunder racing and less ghetto than dryer hose.

I don't know if that is a trust worthy site or not, but you get the idea.

Come to think of it, after seeing the turbo hose, there is one other option. Its a flexible 3 inch PVC coupler that is made out of rubber. I dont remember the exact name of it, but look in the plumbing department, they should have it. Its all black so it wont look as bad as the aluminum dryer ducting.

Ok, I'll have to check into some of these things. Thanks for the help.
