What size is a stock CAt on a 2001 camaro?

Hi everyone.

I have a 2001 V6 Camaro with an 2.5" flowmaster exhaust system and 3" tips. I just preorder an 2.5" Magnaflow Cat with 2.5" Inlet Diameter. Should I change the order from a 2.5 diameter cat to an 3" cat instead. Please help.

yes.

you stock cat has an inlet of 3" and outlet of 2.25"

do you have an aftermarket s-pipe?

then you need to go ahead and get the 3"/2.25" cat unless you plan on upgrading the s-pipe, which i would.

Sorry, but how does a s-pipe look like. The only thing I have done with my exhaust is the flowmaster exhaust system only.

its the part thats curves like an s off your cat to the center of your car where im assuming your kit starts

I never seen a stock S-pipe before under my car, but here is a link of the flowmaster exhaust kit instaletion manual. Under the installation (1) Place the 2-1/4" ring clamp over the end of the resonator pipe, then install the resonator assembly #15128 in position behind the catalytic converter. looks like they are using a resnator in its place. kinda crappy that its only 2.25"s. well, my statement still stands that you need a 3"in/2.25"out cat
