I have a 98, and when I was putting on my exhaust, I decided not to do the S pipe, becasue of the O2 sensor and my lack of knowledge about it. I was thinking of doing it when I get a new Cat, and just taking it to a shop to do it. Would that be expensive? I know the S pipe is a major bottleneck so I want to do it, but is it hard to take out the O2 sensor and put it back in?

Re: O2 sensor after the Cat
well, its not hard to take it out and such but the new piping will need the bung in it which they would need to weld it into the piping.

Re: O2 sensor after the Cat
tell you what, this will save you a lot of time and worrying. Go get piping to make the S-pipe, or buy the one SLP offers, and go buy yourself a 25$ o2 simulator. No need to worry about putting a bung into the s-pipe or worrying about that sensor when it throws a code after you do your exhaust. You will have a 85% chance of throwing a code with a highflow cat, so get an o2 sim and kill two birds with one stone. The more effort a shop has to put into the work, the more they will charge you. If they only have to cut the pipe in 2 places and weld it, you can get out of that shop with only spending around 50$. You can put the o2 simulator on yourself, its as easy as unplugging a connector, and pluging the sim back into it.Last edited by Harrison; 04-26-2006, 01:08 PM.Black 1996 3.8 Firebird T5, SLP CAI, Pacesetter Ceramic Headers,160* t-stat, PCMforLess Tune, Flowmaster American Thunder catback, Car Sounds Cat, custom s-pipe, MSD coils and wires, NGK plugs, 3.42 posi rear, B&M Ripper, 245/50 BFG-G-force's
