  • Pacesetter Header/EGR leak sealing tactics

    Alright, for you guys with pacesetter headers, what have you tried to get rid of the leak on the EGR connection? I've gone almost a year dealing with it, and I can't stand it anymore. I've tried high temp RTV sealant and that works for about a couple days, then it finally gives in a couple spots where the leak is worse than others. I bought some jb weld tonight and am thinking about trying it on the connection tomorrow. Seems like it has a good chance to work, but i dont if it will be able to handle the pressure and heat for an extended period of time. If that doesn't work, i may get it welded, or i think i may just get they egr block off/simulator kit. Anyone have any advice, or a strategy that worked?

    people have got the lt1 egr gasket from the dealer and that worked for them. Others weld it shut and delete the egr or get block off plates.

      i used a custom made gasket and some high temp copper rtv sealant. but i also have a block off plate. maybe a little easier to work with but it still leaked no matter what without the copper gasket

        When i got my pcm tune, i could opt to delete specific trouble codes so they dont show up. The only one i chose was the EGR delete. So....with that said, i could theoretically take off the whole egr system and block it off on the headers and the intake manifold without throwing any codes or having adverse effects right? I would assume it would work the same way as a simulator would, except that a signal isnt being sent to say everything is good, the pcm just thinks the engine never had an EGR? I forgot i opted to do that, i've got a plan now!

          I used the LT1 EGR gasket, but it still leaked. The part of the tube that goes into the header was catching and wouldn't go in far enough for it to seat properly. I used a dremel cutting wheel and cut off about a 1/4 inch of the tube. Now it doesn't catch and seats perfectly. No more leak.

            yes, im guessing they removed the part that tells your pcm you have an EGR system. Im not really sure cause i have never had a tune done to my car.

              someone honestly should have designed that thing with 2 bolts and not one....

                I think they tried copying the stock GM setup with the single bolt setup.

                  He talking about GM I think. It wouldnt be an issue if the pacesetter company designed and built their headers properly.

                    I did this same thing, but have the regular EGR and not a block off plate. Not sure how it works yet since I only put about 20 miles on it and the car died last week. lol
