  • How do i get this piece out?

    http://s65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...=000_02502.jpg

does anyone know how to remove this piece circled in green? My throttle body has a plug here and a different linkage. I thought all angled tb's were the same.

You can see the plug here in that spot on my tb. My full throttle switch sits where that piece is, and is therefore in the way. It doesnt seem to get in the way of the linkage though.

If you can see the back side of it from inside of the TB, how is it held in? Does it just start to come in or is it held on with a fastener of some sorts? If you can't see it and the pin(piece circled in green) is just sticking out from the outside and not the inside, then maybe it is a press fit. If so, then it is just going to require some elbow grease to pull her out.

I removed that piece before. It's just pressed in. There is no hole on the other side to hammer it through.
I put that metal piece into a vice with hard rubber ends (so I wouldn't damage it) and turned the TB back-n-forth until it was able to loosen up, then I just slowly lifted it out.
I can send you pics of my TB without that pin if you want.

thanks hockeyman, id appreciate a pic without it. to me it looks like there IS a hole inside, but a very little hole. ill get a pic i suppose.

          there: http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...8/100_3509.jpg
that tiny little hole is directly the other side of the wall of the pin. i assume you were removing the pin for the same reason i am, to adapt it to an auto. were you able to insatall the auto's hardware easily?

option b: why not just grind it off? im never going to need it again.

Actually, I just removed it because I wanted to strip the whole TB down to the bare skeleton to clean it thoroughly. I have two extra TB's that I bought and reconditioned, so I'll send you a pic of one via email when I'm done writing this.

Actually Looch, if you are going for an appearance theme for your engine, I wouldn't cut it out. Although it's a small area and tough to see, I just don't know how precise you are with the engine bay.

i'd say im downright obsessive. that place would be hidden by my full throttle switch though, so if i cant yank it out, ill just cut it and grind it smooth. shouldnt be too big of a problem. i dont even have a vise here so i cant even try to pull it right now.
