  • My plans...

I planned on getting a new cat back system, but now my cat blew out. My car is almost bone stock, so its time to upgrade, and all before my trip to Canada in the middle of June, so I need some help.

Im not looking for a power house, more a car that sounds nice for a reasonable price. From what Ive found this seems to be what I want and for the price I dont think it can be beat:

I want to upgrade to a hi-flow cat, but I cannot find one anywhere it seems. I have a 98 Camaro btw. Could someone please help me out here? I want the cat to fit to the new exhaust system without any problems or having to do any modifications. Thank you!

Well if everything else is stock then your Y pipe coming in is 3" and if you go to that flowmaster system it looks like thats a 2.5". So just search the following companys for 3" in /2.5" out Catalytic Converters

      Carsound
      Pacesetter
      Catco
      RKSport
      Random Technologies

All these compnys make hi-flow cats for our cars

or youi could get any cat that is 3" and then use a reducer after it, try to get one shorter than stock, probably a 14" or less. Pypes makes a short cat that is street legal in all 50 and is only 7" after installed. i think you can get it under $70 try this link:

scroll to bottom of the page.

I decided to go with the 3" Flowmaster cat-back. I need to know from this site which hi-flow cat to get. I have a 98 Camaro 3.8 v6.

The site is here, you have to click on the "Exhaust" link on the left then go to High-Flow Catalytic Converters to see them. It is the CarSound 94100 series. Should I get the one with the Single AIR Injector, Single Oxygen Boss or the Dual Oxygen Boss?

So can someone help me out? I need to have my exhaust all done before June, and I just need to know which Cat is the best for my car outta the top ones.

Also will I need a new S-Pipe? Just changing the cat to a 3" inlet/outlet and getting a 3" Flowmaster exhaust.

you will need a S pipe if you ordered a 3" flowmaster for a ls1 v8 camaro, if you got one for a lt1 your fine. but becuase its 3inch it wasnt the kit made for the 3.8 so that means it wont have an S pipe. unless you ordered a lt1 cat back like i said. as for your cat, ebay has them for like $50, as for the air tube, is your car an auto or a manual? manual's need the air tube. but alot of people just block it off anyway.as for the o2 boss's i dont know for sure, something tells me single boss, but im not sure.

                      Re: My plans...

The air tube is for 3 way cats. It lets air into an extra bed that the 2 way cats dont have, obviously. This is to help reduce NOx emissions.
Now that you've heard my lesson on converters, you cant get a 3 way cat if the car came with a 2 way, they are not interchangeable. Keep that in mind before you buy one.

you can get a mandrel bent U pipe in 3" from summit and other places, cut it and reattach (weld) it back together in an S shape. it has been mentioned on here lots, and is much cheaper!

Yeah it is much cheaper, I just dont know if it would be any cheaper to have my garage guy do all the extra work. Ill have to talk to him. About how long of a pipe am I going to need to make this S Pipe?

                            Would this be good?

I have ordered all my exhaust parts, but I guess I will need an 02 sim. I have been looking just about everywhere. The link in the one thread is now a broken link for the Casper Sim.

Can anyone help me find an 02 sim?
