  • exhaust ticking???

ok i just put on headers about 3 weeks ago. the first day i put them on my car was ticking and i realized the EGR valve wasnt in all the way so i tightened it up then the ticking went away. A few days ago the ticking came back but i checked the EGR valve and its sealed nice and tight. Also i welded the Y pipe onto my cat so theres no air leaking there. I tightened up my header bolts yesterday cause most of them were loosened up so i figured the ticking would go away cause that was the problem. I cant find where its comming from now. When im ideling there is no ticking what so ever so i dont believe its an internal problem with the motor. But when im accelerating it starts ticking as as my RPMS increase the ticking speeds up just like when my EGR valve wasnt tightened the first time. Any idea's on what it could be??

Check where the headers bolt up to the y pipe. Thats probably where its leaking from. If it is no matter how tight you tighten them they will loosen up over time. I have to get mine retightened about every six months.
