  • Ordering exhaust tonight!

I'm about to order my exhaust:

    TSP Rumbler
    SLP Installation Kit
    Magnaflow Carsound Hi-flow 3" In/out Cat

Tell me what you guys think? I'm going to bite the bullet tonight, I just want to get some response first.

Should sound great, i'm sure... don't expect to get the rumbler until next christmas tho....

(EDIT: I apologize for being terse there, but i ordered the TSP Rumbler at the beginning of april and in the end i had to change the order in order to actually get something... i guess on the plus side for you they'll have the rumbler i was going to buy in stock, so you might get it within the month... MIGHT)

I ordered the Magna-flow/Carsound cat PN:94039 it has the O2 bung in the converter housing. Your gonna love the sound, as long as you like it loud.

the 3 inch cat isn't going to fit to the exhaust manifold Y pipe or to the stock S pipe also, since you got a 3 inch cat, and the rumbler is 3inch, are you going to buy the SLP 3 inch S pipe or have the exhaust shop make you one?

do you mean me or him? and isnt the stock y pipe 3 inch? i plan on ordering the EXACT same thing he ordered : rumbler, 3" cat, and the s pipe.

                    Re: Ordering exhaust tonight!

it may be for the 3.8, but if it is I think it may be only the intake side. in fact I am sure its not the exhaust side, because there is not a 3" adaptor on the back of the cat, and the 3.8 doesn't have a 3" exhaust. so no, the cat will not fit the stock s pipe. I had to get an intake adapter for my 3" in/out cat for my 3.4L pacesetter Y pipe (2.5"). and I have the SLP S pipe and the Rumbler. you are going to love it. trust me.

Yeah, I think I'm going to need a 2.25>3" enlarger peice, but the exhaust shop should have it.

                        Re: Ordering exhaust tonight!

Got it installed today, boy is it loud! I'm not exactly happy with it, however, I think it will grow on me. It sounds beautiful at idle and in the lower range (0-2000 RPM) but above that it's a droning sound. I know it's not a v8, (which I may actually be getting this summer, found a wrecked z28 with perfect motor) and I'll never eliminate the rasp of a v6, but any way to lessen this? It's loud enough as it is, that's for sure. I'm afraid that headers will deepen the sound, but will also amplify it.
Anything cheap and easy to remedy this problem?

Give it about 100 or so miles for the pipes to "break in"

I am running the same setup as you pretty much, and the sound changed a ton after a month or so.

Yeah that's pretty much what will happen. The rasp should kick in a little later too but it will be more pronounced (louder). That's what happened when I had loudmouth at least.
