i already have the whisper lid and k&n filter on my 98 camaro, my question is, is the cold air kit from either slp or whisper motorsports worth going for? also correct me if im wrong, but i think all cold air kits that work with the 99-02, work with the 98. Also wut needs to be done for installing the cold air kid and is one kit better then the other?
i know....a lotta questions, sorry ppl, help is greatly appreciated
CAI--takes much more air to the TB
LID--Just redirect better the air sended from CAI
So you'll need it. The package comes with an add-on to take a little more air from underside. I have already CAI without the add-on. I'm already thinking in an add-on custom design that will get much more air from the front of the car, than just putting the add-on.
Camaro99\'3.8, original spoil package (no body mods...PROUDLY), K&N, Lid 3800II, SLP CAI, Flowmaster, Z28Chrome Tips, 180* Thermostat.
or you could do the Free Ram Air mod and accomplish similar to a cold air intake and do it for free. save the money for some more exhaust work or rims or gears or anything. whatever you have in mind for next. personally i feel that the money for a cold air kit isnt worth it for the minimal gains over the FRA mod.

first off, what i believe you are referring too is a ram-air kit. to help yourself and others, thats what it should refereed to. cold air kits are the tubes that connect to your throttle body. now, yes, a ram-air kit will fit your 98' but unless it is only listed for 99+, you need to contact the company to make sure before you make your purchase. "is it worth it?" well, depends on what your looking for. if you just want some more power, yes. but your not going to see a sec off your 1/4 times or anything. the only difference really between the ram-air kits are manufacturing quality and materials used. i would look at your options and choose weather you wan plastic, my preference, or metal. so, to answer one of your question...no, one is really not better than the other for producing more power. what will be required for installation is just some basic tools, and the ability and the ego (If your a man) to read instructions. cutting the bottom of your intake box will be required for an opening for your ram-air kit to connect to your lid and so on. please try to search for your questions first cause basically there isn't much of anything these days that hasn't already been asked.
