yea, you can block off the port on the header and throw a little filter on the egr tube and no codes will be set. It will just suck in air from your engine bay unless you route it to get air from you cold air intake or something
I want to do this, but I'm not sure if this is going to cause any problems... can someone assist me here, some one who have done this before...
I want to know more about what can cause this action. To block off the port on the header and throw a little filter on the egr tube, to this, someone wrote that "no codes will be set; it will just suck in air from your engine bay unless you route it to get air from you cold air intake or something"
but i want to be sure of what can happen doing this, I have a 1997 3800 Series II Firebird. and if someone that has done this can reply, it will be much better...

I'm not gonna recommend anyone to do an !EGR delete at all.
You may get it blocked off right
You might get lucky and not set off the SES light (or have a SIM)
but your car's computer will still think there is an EGR there (it will reference EGR tables in the tune)
Your car is pre-tuned to use the EGR, it will throw off your AFR at least

not true, depends on what you do when you are tampering.
If your's is leaking due to header swap, or bad, then go ahead and remove it, otherwise leave it be. Tuning or a sim will be needed if it is totally removed. Putting a filter on the hose will not throw a code

he said earlier in the thread he's taking it out for appearance's sake...so he wants to remove it completely; adding a filter on the hose is going to attract more attention to the EGR, which is opposite of what the OP wants to do. Since the OP's goal is to remove the EGR, he will set off a SES code
A dime Will fit in the header hole and a penny will fit in the bock off hole in the intake manifold. Push them in and throw some High heat silicone over them and call it a day.

well, i'm really worried about setting on the SES light, i can work with it. the thing that i'm worried with is in doing some kind of engine damage in any way, but if you people are sure that nothing bad will happen to the engine, i'm ok with that.
i'm worried with spark knocks, running lean and that it makes some other bad effects to the engine...
