Best overall Ram Air Intake system

I have looked at 4 different sets of ram air intakes so far, but havn't found an answer as to which is the best (performance wise), The SSRA (Super Sucker Ram Air), SLP, Whisper, or Fast Toys.

I have heard the SSRA operates the best b/c it is made of plastic and therefore does not conduct as much heat, but it has durability issues considering the fact that it's made of plastic.

Basically all I want to know is which is going to give me the most horse power.:burn:

most people here agree that ram air is only a sales gimick. to my knoledge no one has dyno proven that it will increase hp. and even if it really does increase hp it won't begin to sdo so till probably 80+mph. how much racing do you do above 80mph? I am going to say to save your money on a ram air hood and intake, and put it towards a cold air intake and a diff and gears. if you are really set on ram air get the austin ram air scoop to compliment your cold air intake. its WAY cheeper then a ram air hood.

Unfortonately I don't have much of a choice becuase I have a 1998 Firebird. K&N does not make the Generation II FIPK for my year b/c the intake is setup different in the 98 than other years.

Thats why I was so interested in which ram air intake was the best, there pretty much my only option for a new intake. I was planning on adding one of the ram air systems and the whisper lid. Any other suggestions?

I installed a SLP CAI, before to replace my OEM muffler. I felt a significant difference. Now I been working on cardboard a custom model Add-on to fit my CAI. When done, I woud make it on plastic. It has a Bell shape form, so has double or more the air scopp lenght (2ft, 6'') than the SSRA. Also it have 3'' wide. An opening like that will send lots of air to the TB.

The austin super sucker is the best whether its the plastic one or the metal one.
