  • get rid of raspy sound?

Anyone know of anything i can add to my exhaust system to get rid of the raspy sound at higher RPM's?

I have a Flowmaster 80 series muffler and a new cat. everything else is stock. For now atleast, i'm planning on getting pacesetter headers this august.

I want to keep the same sound, I dont want it getting quieter. I wouldnt mind it being deeper and more aggressive though. I've been searching the forum but i cant find a topic on exactly what i could add. Like a Glasspack in place of the Cat or something like that?

Oh and BTW its a 98 3.8 Camaro

    Thanks in advanced,
    Tyler

ive got pacesetters/magnaflow cat and a flowmaster catback. the flowmaster american thunder cat-back comes with a resonator built into the i-pipe to help reduce rasp. if you like flowmaster, i would suggest looking into that. the size piping will make a difference too. if you want a little deeper, go to a 3'' diameter catback/piping. you could try to find a bullet muffler too and put that on the i-pipe, that would help.

yeah man....i had a flowmaster catback for awhile and i didnt like the raspy sound
i now have a borla 3" catback and the pacesetter headers
and like harrison said....the 3" pipe deepens the sound, and the headers do too imo....mine has been mistaken for a v8 up untill 4500+ rpms

I've heard that resonator does a good job. Anybody with one have any comments about it's abilities?

i think if anythign thatd just be more raspy... i have a glasspack for a muffler and basically no cat(inside is gutted out) and myne gets raspy as **** around 2800-3000 and higher.. and when u let off... so i dunno if a glass pack insted of the cat would help to much... but i might be wrong

Yea im not exactly sure what you guys consider rasp but i have the american thunder catback 2.5 in and i dont have any rasp at any rpm! The only time i hear rasp is at 4000 rpm revs in nutural. I dont rev my engine in nutural ever there is no reason to. Oh and i have a new stock cat. No rasp whatsoever from 1000-6000 rpm.

same same. i had a taddddd bit before i put in the 3'' s-pipe and I-pipe and headers. but after that, zilch. if i do ever get any, it will always be in neutral.
