I have a dual exhaust system on my 3.8L camaro, a Y-pipe..as most are.. it doesn't exactly look stock, but it doesn't very much look after market either..it doesn't sound very stock, but it's hard to know what that is since most owners change their exhaust. It doesn't have any chrome tips or anything but i still think it may be aftermarket. I bought the car used this way. Did the 96 v6s have a stock dual exhaust option or is my kit aftermarket..?
they are unpainted and down firing..hard to see unless you see the exhaust coming out
It has the steering ratio of the v8 cars. That just means it has tighter steering. Also he didn't mention the thing that locks the back wheels together... I'm blanking on the name of that.

I did mention that. Its called a LSD or Limited Slip Differential.
did you check your build codes for y87? sometimes, GM just puts things on there to get ride of it or even sometimes they run out of stuff so they stick something else in there to keep the line moving. i ran into this again recently when my dealership got a new tahoe in with a leather second row seat with everything else cloth. Try getting a seat cover from GM when its a brand new model :\
why would they replace it with the stock dual exhaust instead of a aftermarket one..? but no i'm not the original owner
Well for example, sometimes exhaust shops order those exhausts and call it a "premium" exhaust or "factory performance". Some people dont want aftermarket, they just want something thats stock and says performance on it.

what build codes? the ones on the door? yea i've looked at those.. and i only spin one tire so i always assumed i wasnt y87
reading the rest of the posts on this thread, how can i be sure my car is a Y87? is there something in the vin that i can identify that by? or some sticker somwhere?

On the driver side door panel there is a sticker with a bunch of codes..down near the end of the sticker you might see Y87 :)
Haven’t done anything on the Camaro, but put LEDs on my truck headlights . And my oil pressure sensor went out on the truck so going to fix that this...
