  • pace setter question..

so i am reading inthe pace setter thing and there is a option for the armor coat.. should i get these over the regular ones or is there really that much of a difference? they are both gonna smell funny for the first bit right?

    Re: pace setter question..

yeah but the different is heat and rust. the coated ones will hold heat in better and not rust....hopefully for a long time.

mine aren't coated. i don't see the point in spending the extra money on the coating. i spent it on something that would matter!

how does a jet hot coating not matter? If I'm going to buy something, I do not mind paying a little extra for it to not look like the rusted manifolds that I spent so long taking off.

im with her, i wouldnt waste my money.

If you want them not to rust, go get some temp. rated spray paint, and paint them

Coating=cooler temps, no need for heat shield, and keeps engine bay cooler

Yeah how much cooler? I doubt it makes a huge difference. Make a manual fan switch and boom... got it covered. It can't be hotter than the normal old manifolds and the coating option is about $100, right? You might gain half a horsepower trying to keep it cooler by buying the coating. I would also just buy the paint.

                  I'm not talking about horsepower....

Ceramic coating is just better... less likely to melt your damn sparkplug wires

Same heat as manifolds... right? Do your manifolds melt your wires?

                    Point proven. ;)

                      Re: pace setter question..

There's a simple solution to your spark plugs melting...

Make sure they don't lie against the header. :wavey:

                          Re: pace setter question..

Manifolds also arent the same shape as headers. Ceramic coated headers wont rust (look nicer, if you care about how your engine bay looks), theyll keep heat in, rather than out. yes, this does help against spark plug wire burning/melting... ever heard of steam burns? yeah, same concept. It doesnt have to be touching the wire to melt it.

And the paint is gonna melt right the **** off like 5000 miles later.
