  • pics of custom intake please

i have a 98 firebird 3.8L and cut out the baffles on the lid and was wanting to rid my car of the silencer but couln't figure out a way to get anything to connect from the lid to the throttle body... some people say they use pvc but i'd like to see how... it seems like i'll have to get some ductal work or something. it just seems almost impossible... could someone please help.

and by the way if i do the fram to my car, and then get a slp cold air induction later will that be ok, or what? i dont want to do the fram and then it screw up the cai.

On the 98s you can't use the pvc pipe. As you noticed, our throttle bodies are angled down off center. Before I bought my whisper lid, I used a piece of dryer ducting as my silencer delete. It's a very good mod to do if you're not planning on getting a whisper lid soon in the future.

By fram I assume you mean their air filter. First of all, you won't really feel any gains with that filter. However, I would still recommend it because you can clean it. This is especially handy if you end up doing the slp cai (it's basically a ram scoop). The filter gets dirtier faster and having a reusable one is nice.

A fram filter will not screw up a cai.

      I did:
      Pic 1
      Pic 2

It took a bit of work and I had to melt & mold the PVC to accomodate for the tight space, but I did I finished it within 3 hours. It flows MUCH better than stock!

He means the free ram air mod, and yes you can do it and install an slp intake later, it will actually make it easier for you..

yeah sorry, i did mean free ram air mod, and thanks... I wasn't sure if the slp cold air had anything with it to seal off the rear part of the lid. thanks for the pics guy but i was more or less looking into connecting it to the lid.
