  • rtv/permatex on header gaskets?

i just picked up the abbot racing gaskets for my pacesetters. im putting them on today, but i was wondering whether i should use the ultra copper rtv that i used last time or if i should leave it off this time. the guy from abbott said i wouldnt need it. any opinoins? suggestions?

Maybe a very thin bead of silicone on them, but if there is any little gap between the gasket and head, the exhaust will blow-out the silicone within a short amount of time. Personally, I'd just install the gasket alone, bolt up, drive until the engine gets hot then re-torque the bolts again.

I used a thin layer over the entire surface of the header just to help hold the gasket to the header while aligning the screws to the head. Worked fine for me.
