    Re: Pacesetter

I tend to disagree with the fact that pacesetters are not as good as RKSports. IMO, its the opposite. RKsport has leaking issues your really cant fix aside from welding the y-pipe the the manifolds. enjoy that one when you have to take it off.

Like i said, you will have to deal with a leaking egr tube which can be fixed. you can use the pacesetter header gaskets but abbott racing gaskets are suppose to be a lot better and it is recommended to use locking bolts while your at it. the only real issue i had when installing mine was the y-pipe to header bolts. I found that using full threaded bolts instead of the ones they give you was better for install. no big deal. a whole 5 dollars at a local hardware store.

There is a lot of good info on this board from tips to install. You shouldnt have to ask any questions. :)

        Re: Pacesetter

The tube doesn't line up with the hook up for it on the header. First I bent it over and JB weld'ed it on, then i eventually took the whole egr system off.

I heard there has to be slight modification for the 98 and up,,, but I don't know regarding what. My certified tech did my headers in like a day,,,on a 96.

takes most people like 4-6 hours. see my sig for install guide. Some people have to bend their egr tube slightly more to make it mate up correctly

                Re: Pacesetter

I cut off the egr hook-up and welded it back on shorter and at a slightly different angle. worked great, no problems.

Wait...I'm confused. Most of you as far as I can tell have 3.8s. Will these headers fit a 3.4? And does anyone know of any problems with the 3.4 (EGR)? Thanks.

                    Re: Pacesetter

as shown in the sticky, the ones for 3.8s do not fit the 3.4 but tPacesetter does sell some for you. I have not heard anyone complain about the 3.4 headers. It just a 2000+ 3.8 problem.

                      Re: Pacesetter

GET NEW GASKETS... the ones that come with the kit are crap and you will have to replace them down the line... which is a PITA because you have to take off the whole header.

$25 extra is worth paying upfront to get better gaskets.

                        Re: Pacesetter

My only problem with the 3.4L V6 ones was that the EGR mounting base is not threaded which caught me off guard. Then, the holes for the bolts on the mounting flanges did not meet up to the heads correctly so I had to do a little drilling. Otherwise, simple install.

I emailed abbott about the gaskets and he told me that they are $35 shipped. http://www.abbottracingheads.com/ his email is on the top of that page.

Hey guys. I am going to get the headers installed in a few days at a local muffler shop. I will be providing the headers, 3 inch cat, and new gaskets. I am going to have 3 inch pipe all the way back to my existing Ravin muffler because I like the way it sounds now. I was quoted $200 for the header install, and running the pipes is going to be about $100 more. I'll post once installed.

Good stuff! I have pasesetters on my 96 and i love them. I had a bit of an issue with the y-pipes leaking where they bolted up to the collector on the header. But i just put on some bigger bolts REALLY cranked it down and double nutted it so it wouldent back off. Car runs good with them. and sounds great VERY deep. my car is often mistaken for a V8 at idle.

I'll never purchase Pacesetter products again, nor will I recommend them to anyone.

I've blown the primaries from the flange on the driver's side and now the passenger side flange is warped which is causing an annoying leak.
