  • Going to get a CAI

So apparently the K&N FIPK kit yield 6.79 HP @ 5066 RPM according to their website and the performance shop I went to today. Off their website it's $386 plus shipping and all that, I can pick it up at the performance shop for $320 though and they'll order it and everything with no shipping charged. So am I better off doing that or should I go the SLP route, with the airlid, intake and filter. All that comes to $300 plus I have to add shipping for each one because i'm ordering them all seperately from different sites.
I'de be getting the lid and intake from the SLP website and the filter from K&N, all totaled is $329.34. So would this be the better route then just getting the K&N FIPK kit I mean does that K&N include everything I'de be ordering from SLP like the lid or what?

    Shaved air lid:$Free
    Free Ram Air: uh dur
    Homedepot intake:$7 or sumtin

what do you mean better? cuz the cheapest is the as close as the search button. the price difference isnt much, not sure on ne performance differeces, shouldnt be much thoh. i guess if you feel lazy just have it shipped.

You can fine a fipk for 280$, your shop is just bs'ing you, no one sells them for 380$, mexican sales tactics...

Anyways, custom intakes work but they look.... no comment

I would go with the lmperformance package for the most power

Re: Going to get a CAI

BTW shaving the air lid will pretty much make it look and function exactly like an aftermarket lid would it not? I mean theres nothing terribly special about the lids is there? It's primarily the intake and filter that i'm interested in so I'll probably just be getting those Austin intake alone is $200.

Also this might sound stupid but to CAI's make any noise at all? Like can you hear them sucking in air?

a whisper lid is better than a shaved/pvc stock lid. and yes the cai makes some noise, the whisper sounds really good compared to the stock intake also.

You'd probably have to be dumb to pay $380 for 6 horses. You can get nitrous for like $100 more and get like 50-75 horses on a stock engine.

Alright I'm going with the Austin Ram Air Kit. I already have a new K&N filter and I really can't justify buying the lid, I'll just shave the one I have.

And just to clarify, I don't need a Ram Air hood correct? Its just a name thing.

Also for anyone who has bought that kit does it involve a lot of cutting of things or what?

if you do shave it make sure you take out the baffles, it's usless unless u have the baffles taken off.
