  • whipser air lid?

i am considering buying a whisper air lid. i mean i see alot of people here with it, so im assuming it must be good, but what exactly does it do? So before i buy it im just wondering how much of a gain in horsepower and fuel mileage i should expect to see. atleast before i spend money on it.

all it is is a stock lid that is a little higher, and is smooth on the inside instead of having those "fins"

People say that they you will feel a bit more throttle response, but you probably wolnt notice any HP or MPG gains, if you do they will be minimal.

You can save some cash and modify your own but taking the OEM lid off and getting pliers like device that is for cracking glass after its been cut.
Taking that tool and cracking off all the fins and obstacles on that lid.
The tool can be bought at a swap meet as I did for less than $4.
Break off everything that can slow air.

A whisper lid is alot better than a shaved lid.

you guys are forgetting that the stock lid has those 2 huge air silencers, fins inside everywhere, and the intake port of it is very small.

On a whsiper lid there is no silencers it's just straight through, the intake hole is the same size as the throttle body, and there's no fins on it.

I used to have the shaved lid, noticed a tad difference, but it still had the air silencers. Once I got the lid I noticed a huge difference in sound "you could finally here it breathing" and power...

Agreed, and well put. I love the way it sounds without the silencer in there.

i got rid of my air silencers and replaced it with pvc pipe... you dont need an aftermarket lid to do that.

I did, before I bought my lid. Get some of that dryer hose. It's flexible.

Deleting the silencer is really what gives you the most of your gains. Yes, I did notice a little improvement in mid rpm acceleration and also the tone of the exhaust got a little better.

not $100 cooler haha. for me anyways. i'm on a very tight budget so i gotta squeeze every penney when i buy mods. i shaved all that stuff in the intake and put in the PVC pipe. i hear it sucking in air over 3500 rpms. can definately feel it on the highway with my fasttoys CAI too.
