  • Burnt plug boot

    I was wondering if anyone can help me here. I recently installed a set of Pacesetter headers on my 2001 Firebird 3.8. I took her to the garage today to get the plugs and wires changed. Upon removing the old wires on the passenger side there was at least one plug boot burnt from the header and the same thing happened to one or two on the driver side. Is there some sort of metal boot protector I need to get so this doesn't happen to my new MSD wires? Thanks.

    my 01 actually came with metal boot protectors but those wouldnt fit with the headers so i used a wire wrap but they still directly touched the headers in a couple of places got burnt and so did the boots. instead of getting a new set of wires with angled boots i just got these

    all you need is something to cut and crimp the wires and a pair of pliars. took me at most 15 mins

      ^^^that would be cheaper if you know what your doing.

      I'm assuming you put the stock straight plug wires back on? that was your problem, they just dont fit. I have 90* and they are working great with my headers. I hear 45* is the best for the application.
