  • quiet aftermarket exhaust?

new here, looking to mod a 4th gen firebird.

I'm curious if there is a quiet highflow exhaust available for the v6 cars. Or just a muffler in general that I could put on a single exit design. Its been years since I've looked at flowmasters and I have no idea what series is what.

I plan on forced induction in the very near future and I'm really not looking for the rumble sound. Heck I guess I'd rather have something sound as close to stock as possible.

And now I will be using the search button again for the best headers...

    thanks in advance

dynomax isnt real loud, we just used one of their 3rd gen camaro mufflers and it has the same tone as an SS, but its quieter

I would say your best bet if your looking for something kinda quiet and as a bonus cheap, get a take-off exhaust from an ss or even a z28 i think is the same. You can find one on ebay or maybe even a junkyard, or look in the forsale section here or on one of the v8 boards for someone selling one.

I'll try to find clips on the dynomax, thank you for the info.

how do the stock v8 system compare to a free flow 3in made for the sixer? I've been on graymans site but he only has info on an aftermarket lt1 system.

I'd have to say edelbrock and borla (not the catback, the proxs)

yes i believe a Z28 take off would be quietest, not an SS though, they are kinda loud

I have a flowmaster 80 series cat back on my 2000 camaro 3800. I left all my pipe from the cat to the exhaust and put new pipe from the muffler to the tips. It is the most quiet, deep toned, (almost like a 4.6 liter mustang ) exhaust ive ever heard. I am very pleased with this system and would recommend it to anyone looking for a "v8 sound". Of course you have the v6 sound at higher rpm's but almost no rasp. Seriously.
