  • Quick Intake Question

Would I see any noticable gains from removing my silencer? Basically, I want to know if I should get a full kit like this one or just one like this, and if there would be any big differences seen between the two.

if anything remove the baffles and get this first kit, you are looking at possible 5 rwhp with the kit.

Aren't the baffles in the silencer? If I get the 1st kit, then I get rid of the silencer don't I?

......I don't get what you're saying? Yes I need to cut the baffles, yes they're in the silencer, or yes I'd get rid of the silencer? I'm just wondering if I would see a big difference between the two kits.

            Re: Quick Intake Question

I am saying i call the silencer a baffle, you call it a silencer....same thing. You wouldnt notice a major gain between either kit, but there would be more of a gain if you went with the full kit....if you want to notice a real gain you would need exhaust and possibly a tune to handle the extra flow.

O, Ok. I already have an exhaust, which is why I'm looking into an intake

How much noticable? just an estimated HP gain. They claim up to 20 on some of them

                    Re: Quick Intake Question

no no, 20 is completely ridiculous.... like i said 5-7 hp is very realistic.

                          Re: Quick Intake Question

i got this one: http://fasttoys.net/shop/product_inf...products_id=28 its a little more expensive but i bought it off a friend for cheaper. it works goooooood. i can definately feel it in the seat of my pants at highway speeds. not so much around town but highway... the faster you go the more you notice it definately is working. its also been looked into independantly: http://www.installuniversity.com/ins...sity/index.htm
if ya want something, get that. it looks cleaner and keeps your underhood looking a bit more stock (i think the usual CAI's are a bit gaudy for my underhood taste). plus, the faster you go, the better it works. if ya dont wanna pay 150 big ones, look on e-bay for a while. a used kit wont have anythign wrong with it cuz it doesnt really move. or you could always fab your own too. just my .02

                            Re: Quick Intake Question

the faster you go the more you feel it indicates ram air. the kits you are looking at on ebay are not ram air kits. the kit I have sis available at SLP online, it combines cold air and ram air.

Thanks guys, but I've got a 97, so the Ram Airs won't work.
