  • removing the resonator

Ok, i've heard good things and bad things about the flowmaster resonator that comes with the 2.5" catback kit. Do most people that remove the resonator regret it or love it? What are the Pro's and Con's?

    Re: removing the resonator

I love it... I removed mine early this spring, like in march or april or something, and I haven't regretted it since. It sounds way better at idle, and is much louder and deeper under load. I really didn't notice any more rasp than it had before i took it off, in my opinion and others who have heard my before and after, i think that the resonator quiets it down more than it controls rasp. The muffler seems to handle the rasp very well. Overall, i'm very happy that i removed it.

Try removing it, if you end up not liking it, have it welded back on.

        Re: removing the resonator

I just got done replacing the resonator with a straight pipe earlier today and it only cost me about 8$ and an hour and half. You're completely right, its a little louder and alot deeper sounding. The exhaust tone got better and i have not heard any rasp. It sounds so much better now that i have to wonder why Flowmaster put that resonator on in the first place. It's not that much louder with it off and it just sounds deeper. Oh well, i recommend doing this for anybody who would like to sound a little more aggressive.
