  • 3.4 Headers and A/C?!?!

I am about ready to get my heads and intake swapped, and I know I need a set of headers and need to slot out a set of bolt holes to get them on after I do it. My question is I have heard bad things about RKsport and how the headers fit, and the only ones I can find from Pacesetter wont work with A/C. I don't want to get rid of my a/c and I want to do this swap. RKsports work?!?!, whats the problems with them? Or should I just be out looking at custom headers?

I don't get it? I've got Pacesetters and A/C. Why do they say they won't work with the A/C? Can you post a link of where you are looking?

Just the pacesetter heads from Jegs or Summitracing.

But if they fit screw it!

I just don't know if they maybe changed the design somehow since I got mine that would make them non A/C friendly. I'm gonna check to see where I got mine from, just a sec, brb.

Well I got mine from CarParts.com. Which was before they got bought out by JC Ripme. Mine are the ceramics also, maybe that's a differance. I guess you could always sell them on ebay if they don't fit.

The Pacesetter headers are for the 3.4 without AIR. Some retailers incorrectly list this as 3.4 w/o A/C but in fact Pacesetter is referring to the secondary air injection found on 3.4 manual trans cars. AFAIK the 3.4 auto does not have AIR.

Most manual 3.4 simply leave off the AIR system when installing the Pacesetter headers. I know that disconnecting the AIR pump will not set off the SES light, however you may not pass emissions sniff test if you require one. From what I can see there is only one injection point on the passenger-side manifold, it would probably not be very difficult to have a hole drilled in the header and a bung welded on if you wanted to retain the AIR tube hookup.

Aww thank you very very much! It is also possible I was mis-reading that one. I don't care about no friggen emissions! And besides car will be pretty stict track in a year anyways. Thanks a ton!
