exhaust problem?

awhile back i had misfiring problems...when i went up to the place to get it fixed i looked under the car and the cat was bright red...i got my plugs replaced and it fixed the problem...no misfiring...

well ever since at certain times when im accelerating my car sputters, mostly round 4th and 5th gear but also when im round 4-5k rpms in 1st and 2nd...now im not sure if its my exhaust system because it got clogged after the misfiring or what...but i hate to buy a whole new exhaust system if that isnt the problem any help would be great

you dont have to buy a whole new exhausr problem to just replace your cat. get on ebay and bid on one.

would the cat be causing that problem just by itself...i figured if the cat was ruined then it wouldnt be good for the rest of the exhaust system if i kept runnin with it...

IF the cat is bad it certainly does not require a new exhaust system, the two are not related. You car is sputtering but not throwing any codes? If the SES light is on I would have that read first to see a bit more closely what the problem is... could also possibly bve bad o2's...bad IAT...there are a few possibilities.
