I did a search, and I am still a little confused. Does any exhaust designed for a F-Body bolt up to our V6 cars? For instance, if I find a stock z28 exhaust on ebay would it bolt right onto my cat? Does this apply to aftermarket exhausts? Does it matter if the exhaust was originally for a LT1 or LS1? Then a larger diameter S pipe should be used if going with a 2.75 or 3 inch exhaust? Sorry if this was covered a million times.

Re: Quick exhaust question
all 2.5 inch exhuasts SHOULD bolt up pretty easy, some come with a S pipe.
3" exhaust made for the ls1 will not come with an S pipe, you either have to make on, or order one.
3" exhaust made for the lt1 might come with an S pipe, but might not.
you dont HAVE to get a bigger S pipe, and you dont have to get a bigger/delete the cat.
ls1's have two cats, lt1's and our v6's have one. so our "Y" pipes are drasticly different, thats why you need an S pipe to use an exhuast system for a ls1.
the I pipes for any 3" exhuast should step down to some where around 2.75" so our stock s pipe ( 2.25 ) wont just clamp together. the SLP "install kit" ( s pipe )comes with a S pipe that will bolt on to the stock cat, or slip into a 3" hi-flow cat.
i think i covered everything. feel free to ask more any more questions you maybe have.
BTW the stickies at the top of this section are VERY helpfull, and most if not all the info i just gave you is in there.1998 bright red camaro ,M5 ,Y87 ,stock

Originally posted by Rune:
If it smells like a turd and looks like a turd, chances are its probably not a candy bar.

Re: Quick exhaust question
in order to use any ls1 system you'd need a S pipe. some lt1 exhuasts come with a s pipe, in which case you could bolt it right up i think. but im not 100% sure becuase i dont know what size the end of the S pipe would be, or if its just flanged. ( like the slp install kit )
this link will be very helpful for you, just give it a quick read http://home.comcast.net/~grayman99/exhaust-overview.htm1998 bright red camaro ,M5 ,Y87 ,stock

Originally posted by Rune:
If it smells like a turd and looks like a turd, chances are its probably not a candy bar.
