yes, that will work but I would rather get a mail-order tune.
If you plan on doing heads/cam/turbo I would definately buy my own tuner package.

He fills the lifter valley with foam to keep the intakes from getting heat soak.

wow i think ill do that one day but i will stick to the blocking egr for now but for the egr blocking how hp do think i would get with out doing what your friend did? i dont plan on doing heads,cam or turbo so the egr simalator should be good enough for me

I would still get a mail-order tune over the zzp code disabler. You will gain more hp from
a mail order tune than the zzp code disabler.

I already said my guess on how much you hp you would gain without the EGR, probably about 5-7hp
Which isnt very much at all, you probably wont be able to feel that gain.

I have the zzp egr sim and block off plates. Most people say its not possable, but i do notice more power during normal acceleration. Its been several months, and so far no problems at all.

Ok so im getting pacesetters header and fully 3inch exhaust and high flow cat with my 80 flowmaster I already have on there and I wanted alittle more horses in there. If I want to get the EGR block off plates with EGR sim. from zzp can I just leave the EGR system in there because we have emissions test here in NC. So if the EGR styem looks like its hooked up and there is no SES lights to say there is a exhaust or EGR code you think I can get away with it??? Sorry if its a dumb question j/w

If you leave it in there it will be very easy to see that it is disconnected. I can tell you with mine gone it passed inspection the other week with no problem, the guy poped the hood, saw every thing was nice and clean, and slamed it shut.

would you want that much air being sucked in anyways? it's not being read by the maf sensor or anything... I'm just going to block mine off.

if you use the filter you do not have to block off the intake manifold, and you will not throw codes, and fyi the EGR does not suck, your exhaust has pressure, so the exhaust is pushed in, when the egr does not sense exhaust i do not believe it even opens, so it does not even make a difference at all, and engine bay temp is a hell of a lot cooler than exhaust

engine bay is alot cooler than exhaust temps, but intake air is cooler than engine bay air

Whether you get a filter or block it off, I highly recommend recalibrating the MAF
Hell, almost any mod you do I recommend recalibrating the maf

you might still have a leak with the block off plate. get a shop to weld it up is the best option, or do what i did and buy an lt1 egr gasket, works great for about 3 dollars from GM.

I will weld mine when my EGR dies. Total price = .25 cents
or get a used EGR

ok well my egr has a leak. i don't just want to fix it. i would like to do something different. i've read a little about people putting little filters on it. and then others do the block off plate.

i kinda like the idea of the filter. what do i have to do to set that up?

Quick question... what are the symptoms that your EGR has a leak? Is it a tapping noise, like a header tube is leaking?

I'm running PaceSetter headers, I have the tap - my mechanic has checked the headers over (he says they're sealed well), but I'm still getting the tapping noise.

beestly- i can actually feel air coming out of my egr... so check that out. otherwise, i get a loud, fast clicking from around 1500RPMS ==>
