  • Small flowmaster problem

I just installed my Flowmaster Cat-back today. I like it except for a small rattling problem. The passenger side exit pipe is too far over, and it hits the side of the well/heat shield that the pipe fits into. I was thinking of having a shop just cut off a small section of the exit pipe and then weld everything solid. How much would this cost? Is there any other way to remedy the problem? The exit pipe is already pushed into the muffler as much as possible.

You know, in the time it took you to type this thread out, you could have called several muffler shops and gotten a definite answer.

You're right I could have...And every one of their answers would involve money. I also asked if anyone has other sudjestions like things I may have missed. I also typed this thread later at night, and I doubt there were any muffler shops open at that time. I'm so sorry for starting coversation about an exaust problem I'm having...Oh wait, this is the exhaust/intake section isn't it?

            Re: Small flowmaster problem

I got the problem 90% solved this morning. I was able to re-adjust a few things to get the tip further away from the heat shield. I then bent the shield away from the tip for some more room. Now the only time I hear a rattle is around a hard left turn. Good enough for me. I'll probably still have the exhaust shop weld every seam, so I can ditch the clamps. By the way Tom Rs, where did you mount your cut-out? Before the resonator or after? How does it sound?
