  • whisper lid install

I just finished my install. Sorta, the grommet is about 90-95% into the lid and I can't budge it any further. It's probably due to how I put it on. Works fine though. Did anyone else have as much trouble putting that thing on as I did?

That grommet was a pain in the a** to put in, i think i drilled out the hole a bit more to get it all the way in.

            Google is your friend.

grommet-(connector/accessory) A rubber seal used on the cable side of a
multiple-contact connector to seal the connector against moisture, dirt, or
            air.

Yeah mine was a PITA too. I ended up trimming the grommet to make
it fit in all the way.

I was going to say little rubber piece, but that'll do. It is good to see that everyone else had that problem too. Well, it's not good but at least it tells me I'm not an idiot. Oh yeah, I was referring to the lid for the 99-02 3800 cars. Do the lids for the earlier models not have this issue? They could've warned me instead of telling me on the little paper in the box that it can be done in less time than it takes to read the instructions.

the only thing that took me time was trying to get the sensor into the grommet, and then the grommet into the lid. i didnt have any other problems. i ended up finding a tiny optical screw driver, and used it sorta like a shoe horn to get it all in. i put it through my finger about twice, but it worked!

I still dont know what grommet you all are talking about.
The only rubber pieces I know of is the IAT plug in boot protector
and the big rubber hose that connects the lid to the TB
I have an 02, and didnt have ANY problems getting my lid on right

hey sorry to hijack but does that full package come with the radiator support thing too? you know the thing that the lid clamps on to..? thought about getting 1 for my car and the ram air but i dont have the lid intake i have the crappy 1 that goes off to towards the fender..

or would a cheaper/better way be to just go with the slp intake..??

look at the thing on the right of the lid, across from the nitrous nozzle. that is the grommet we are talking about.

LOL, It would have been easier to install a little clay dog. Probably a little messier though.
