  • V8 Exhaust on a V6? What?

Ok i'm looking to get an exhaust system(headers, so on) since I have CAI now.

I called SLP and saw the links on here and they are for V8's....and SLP confirmed saying no headers/exhaust system for a 3.4 Although I saw this in another thread..

take-off v8 exhaust. i might be having one off a 99 t/a very soon for sale
    I'm confused.....

So if I got v6 headers(from where.....link anyone? pacesetter website only had 3.8??) and bought v8 exhaust system from slp then it would work? Idk i'm so confused. Thanks

u can put v8 cat backs on v6's pretty easily. all u will probably need is adapter from v6 width tubing to the v8 (cant recal the numbers off hand) and if u go for a newer style exhaust (like for ls1 years on a lt1 years car) u will need to get one new hangar for the drivers side. they were different style but all u need to do us unscrew a couple bolts to change them. it takes 5 minutes to do that tops. thats what i did with my SS exhaust.

No need to be confused. Think of it this way. V6 or V8, the stock exhaust runs the same route all the way back from the Y-pipe. Therefore, V6 or V8 aftermarket systems are the same. Understand now?

With the exception of the 02 sensor after the cat.

You will either need an o2 simulator, or whoever is installing the exhuast will have to weld-in a bung for the 02 becuase there is NOT one ont he v-8 system.

lt1's and v6's have the same exhaust pattern, ls1's are a tad different but will fit .

So here's a question. When I look on most companies websites they have all
v8's listed together for the camaro models, SS & Z28. If there is a slight diffrence between them why do they sell them as the same kit? Do they include the parts to make it happen either way? I thought I understood now I'm confused. I need a drink.

the only difference between a ls1 v8 exhuast and ours is the lack of an S pipe. lt1 v8 exhuasts are the same as us, the exhuast sticky at the top of this section might help, give it a read.

the difference between SS and Z28 are ramair and different muffler+tips. that and cosmetic changes
