I will have pics up in the morning sometime since its dark, but i have a 98 firebird with the angle throttle body. For anyone who has one, they know the hassle with trying to get a straight shot from lid to TB. Well after doing the F.R.A.M. and shaving down my lid, i spent about 8 bux and got a straight shot. I've seen some on here before, but i do believe that this is great. Sorry to post right now, but i'm so pumped about it. Its sounds wicked as well. PICS SOON!!!!!!!!!!!

First i took my free time yesterday to do the free raim air mod, and also shaved the lid...
and then after all of that, i said, F*** it, i wanna get this silencer off and don't care how it looks. Well i do care, but wasn't that concerned at the time, i was a mad man on a mission, lol.
and the good thing is i didn't have to cut a spot for the sensor. When you take off the lid, you can look into the hose and see the screen easily. I was gonna stretch it out, but when the hose is crinkled up it looks really smooth inside. Opinion are appreciated, and if you don't like it then thats cool as well. Doesn't bother me. I just know that with college i think i've done pretty good money wise with flowmaster exhaust, smooth lid, F.R.A.M., and now this for a total of $55

well i went to lowes looking for some rubber tubing that was flexible and found nothing, so i was goin to go witht the pvc and rubber flexible connecter.... i went to walmart to get some groceries and seens the ducting and thought, well that might work. But then it wouldn't hold the sensor so i got a 3 in black pvc that is 3 in long as well and connected it to the oval hose, then connected the ducting and then to the TB. Pretty simple actually. Ducting 3in... was 5 bux and the pvc piece 3 by 3 was $1.57 and some clamps for like 2 bux. Its snug as well.

wonder if beveling the edge off the intake to maf would help.

i was wanting the plastic tubing, but couldn't find any that was flexible enough. Also, i don't think those without this car understand that not just the angle but how close the TB is to the radiator... making it hard to find larger tubing to fit. On another note, i didn't expect to see a difference, like i never did on my other cars... but actually i can tell a huge difference in throttle response. I never barked tires in 3rd until this mod.

I hate to burst your bubble, but I have some bad news.
The performance increase from aftermarket air lids doesn't come from removing the fins inside the lid. It comes from changing the oval outlet to a round one. The oval outlet causes turbulence, slowing the air down and robbing some potential horsepower. Shaving the fins doesn't make much of a difference.
The dryer ducting you got works fine for a few weeks. Then it becomes brittle and it will tear. I went through this cycle a couple times before I said screw it and I got myself some flexible tubing (not sure of the material, I got it from a guy in the Air Force who said it was used to divert F-16 Falcon exhaust during hangar maintenance. It was some kind of woven synthetic fiber tubing.)

well if i was wanting raw power then i would buy it. As a college student and this being my daily driver, it will do for now. The oval compared to round doesn't make that big of a difference either. Anyways, i don't see how the duting will wear up, its insulated on the inside.
don't get me wrong, i'm not trying to argue with you... i am just goin with what i have learned from my first car. My 1980 malibu has seen engine swap and everthing i can think of. I just think i know enough to know if this will be safe, effective, or not.

Every lid made at least 5 RWHP more than the stock lid, with some making 10+ RWHP. The added performance translated to the dragstrip, with most of the lids cutting .1 sec off of the 1/4 mile time and gaining 1 MPH over the stock lid. Translate that percentage to a 3.8L, and you'll see an increase of about 5 RWHP and 6 RWTQ with a Whisper lid. what i am saying is that i'm not looking at numbers, i'm goin cheapo. I never do this on any other ride of mine, but this is my cheap firebird to drive to school and have fun. Maybe the other lids will help out more, but the difference, as you stated, isn't even enough for me to tell. I use my 80 malibu to drag, if i wanted to drag this car, then i would be thanking you right now.
