I have my cutout installed and love the sound but I would like to get a eletric cutout but don't wanna pay the money. Have anyone tried making there own eletric cutout so you do have to be getting under the car everytime you wanna be loud or is the ones on ebay my only option

i would love to do this too. homemade of course
I could hook up a servo
I have been hearing about how those electrics burn out though.

I would like to have an electric cutout to ONLY automatically open when the conditions exist of > +40mph and > +4000 rpms

First you need to find an actuator that will work for your purpose. The worst problem I see for that will be that it will need to withstand extreme low and high temps. It will also need to be waterproof. It will need to run off 12V (preferrably). Take those criteria and any others you can think of and find your actuator. Then you can design the mechanism around that.

Here's a cable operated one... only downfall is that its only 2" otherwise i'd buy it. its a LOT cheaper than electric, and just as convenient.

i like the idea for the auto-opening cutout. a friend of mine has an SVT focus and they do something like that stock.
