97 3.8 I have flowmaster 80 on it now, but just the stock pipes. Wanting to run 2.5 or 3' pipe from the headers back to the muffler. I called one shop said they cant get rid of the cat due to the 02 sensor, this true? Need some help here.

    Re: Exhaust Help

They wont take off the cat because you will throw your ses light. Unless you have a reprogrammer and can reset the code dont do it, also you wont pass emmissions. This weekend im putting in a cam, headers and gutting the cat. But i have hp tuners and can reset the code. also if you are heart set on taking the cat off, gut it instead that way it looks like theres somthing there.
so many people are going to tell you to just get a high flow cat because it will be too loud or sound like ****, the only reason im doing this isbecause i have a borla catback and can make my exhaust louder or quieter through block off plates that the borla comes with.

      Re: Exhaust Help

You can get an 02 simulator and you will not throw any codes. They are 35-40 bucks, and you can get them from a lot of different sites.

I'm not worried about emissions we dont have auto inspections in Oklahoma.

Well if you don't have to worry about them, you don't have to get an 02 simulator, but you have to live with an SES light. Personally that bugs me.

theres your problem. you only called "ONE" shop. yes, getting rid of the cat will cause a SES light being on but big deal. i had the same shop that i bought my exhaust and had installed from take my cat off about 3 months after they installed my exhaust, due to it rattling uncontrolaby, and the previous owner of my car welding one side and bolting the other. m&m muffler @ admiral and yale. they told me not to tell a soul. lol call them and ask
