alright so the time has come to do another mod. i am going to go with a CAI, but im not sure of which one to buy. from what i hear SSRA gives the most power, but what are my other choices? SLP? SLP says it comes with everything needed to install and directions. im hoping to do this myself since a CAI isnt that hard, and all the shops around here are ridiculously expensive for the simpilest of things. gimme some advice, what would you guys do or what have you done. and have you seen any gain?

Re: CAI Choice
What year & engine do you have? If it's a 3.8, there' not as many kits available. But, you cant ake any 3.4 or 5.7 kit and buy a LT1 elbow, and it'll hook right up. I bought a LT1 Moroso intake from eBay. Paid $125 shipped for it brand new, then bought a 90* reducing elbow, along with a 3" coupler, and put it all in my car. It's a tight squeeze, but it'll fit (even with the block-out plate inistalled, so you don't get any cold air). I noticed some nice gains from it (no HP numbers, but the SOTP rating was high IMO), and the sound is awesome. I've heard the metal intakes have more sound to them than plastic ones do. Mine's plastic, and as I'm going down the road at WOT, it sounds alot like a turbo:banana:~97 3.8L V6 Camaro~

Re: CAI Choice
yeah i have a 2002 Camaro V6. i think i am just going to go with SLP. is it something i can install myself in my garage? do i need any special tools or anything? im just trying to avoid having to pay more for someone else to install it for me. but if it comes to that then oh well no harm in paying to get the job done right.02 Camaro:<br />Whisper Lid, Cat-Back Exhaust, K&N Air Filter, Glow Gauges

Re: CAI Choice
but wait a minute..........you need to buy a lid and a lifetime filter (k&n or holley) too.........you see, at that time they used to sell it as a package ssra +lid+holley filter = $349.00 (i believe) .............they don't sell it like that anymore................ so, http://www.lmperformance.com/1858/13.html + http://www.lmperformance.com/1617/13.html + http://www.lmperformance.com/1620/13.html = Happiness ................ :)
