I bought my car with a Flowmaster muffler on it. My car is a 98 model and im pretty sure the exhaust is as old as the car and I need to know weather I have a cat-back or just a muffler. I cant tell just by looking at the pipes b/c they are all rusted even parts of the muffler.
Also, if it is just the muffler not the cat-back am I getting any HP from that? If so, how much as compared to a cat-back. I also have a whisper lid.
well what size is the exhaust... if its 3in than its aftermarket. Anyways, yes it will add hp, even just the muffler... but if all you have is a muffler than not much at all. maybe 1 or 2 lol. the whole catback will be a little better, but having good exhaust is only good with better air intake. in other words... if you don't have more air and cooler air coming in, then the exhaust won't help you out that much.

I know its aftermarket, its dual outlet and says flowmaster on it.
If it were me and I ahd te money I'd ditch the Flowmaster especialy since hte pipes are rusted as you say. Then put on a real catback system. If you can afford it get a stainless steel system such as Borla which I have. If not then look into a Magnaflow catback or something.
