  • Catalytic Converter Question

Quick question about a cat. converter - Which application will work? I've been looking at everything that is available off of this website. The catco is 14", and the random technologies is 17". The RKSport application looked good, but it didn't give product dimensions, only package dimensions. Are all of these applications viable options? I drive a '97 firebird, and have already upgraded the exhaust with the 2.5" flowmaster american thunder. Are there any installation tips I need to know about before I purchase (i.e. cutting tubing, welding, modifications)?

Also, what kind of additional performance can I expect from upgrading the cat. at this point? I have a functional ram air hood that will be installed soon as well, and I want to have some type of base idea... not that it matters though, because the faster the better, really. Thanks for the help.

    Re: Catalytic Converter Question

I just got done looking at the Magnaflow Catalytic Converter kit. I am assuming it is a kit since it also includes the Y-pipe and a secondary pipe after the cat.

This looks like it will work, has anyone else installed this? How difficult is the installation? Thanks for any help.

I haven't installed that exact one, but if it's anything like any other kit then it is fairly easy. I would search around the web and this site to see if you can find a writeup for that exact kit where someone has already installed it. Having a writeup to go off of, even if you know what you are doing makes the job a heck of a lot easier and takes time off of labor just because it's like having a second opinion right there with you. If you do get this, good luck with the install and I hope it works great for you.

Here are those codes and the gears that pertain to them. They were given to me by Shodown in another thread so I would believe them to be correct.
