  • Question about resonators...

    http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/pr...oducts_id=3809

    This is the setup I have in my car

    1995 - 1997 Camaro / Firebird

    * 3.8L V6 with Slip Fit Catalytic Converter
    * Includes Resonator
    * 2.50" Outlets
    * 5.00" x 10.00" 80 Series Crossflow Muffler
    * 3.00" Logo Embossed Stainless Tips
    * American Thunder
    * Dual pipes out the Rear exit (DOR)

    Can you remove these for a louder sound and better performance?

      Re: Question about resonators...

      I recommend removing it. The tone becomes much deeper and it gets a little louder. It will make your car sound much more aggressive and it only took me about 8$ and 30min to do it. I could never figure out why flowmaster included that thing in the first place because it sounds so much better without it.

                  thats the 80...

                  however, the 3" flowmaster kit for the v8 (which will also fit our cars) does not have a resonator. That may be the kit you have homedog

                  I recommend getting the 2.5" kit for the v6 and just get rid of the resonator, i think that 3" is overkill for most peoples applications. But that is just my opinion

                      I already have it installed and everything, but come spring time, I will be removing the resonator :tup:

                      How's it removed anyways? Looks like it's part of the exhaust.

                            theres nothing illegal about removing the resonator, the cat is illegal of course. id get a high-flow cat and then by-pass the resonator becuase if you have no cat and you remove the resonator odds are your exhuast will be pretty raspy.

                              mine doesn't rasp... then again i have a hiflow cat, not a gutted cat.

                              the only time my car ever rasps is when revving in neutral.
